Don't let your phone kill Reditu
Last updated: 17 October 2026
Some phones close apps in the background to save battery, and with the screen off Reditu could stop seeing you in the middle of a ride. These steps prevent that. The Xiaomi ones were checked on a real phone; the rest come from public sources and we could not test them, so take them as a guide: the menus change with the model and the version.
Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO with HyperOS 3 (Android 16)
The first three steps were checked on a real phone with HyperOS 3 in Spanish (17 Oct 2026). On MIUI and other HyperOS versions the menus can be named differently.
- Open «Permissions» › «Autostart in the background» (the button takes you straight there) and allow Reditu.Checked on a real phone
- In «App battery usage» (the button takes you there) pick Reditu › «Manage battery usage» and turn on «Allow background usage».Checked on a real phone
- In Reditu's app info (App info), turn off «Pause app activity if unused».Checked on a real phone
- Lock Reditu in recents: in the recent apps view, press and hold its card and tap the padlock. Not tested on a phone: from public sources

Samsung with One UI
We could not test it on a Samsung: it comes from public sources, which for recent versions (One UI 5 or later) only show screenshots. The exact names can change with the model and the version.
- Settings › Apps › Reditu › Battery: choose «Unrestricted» or turn optimisation off («Don't optimise»).Not tested on a phone: from public sources
- Settings › Battery › Background usage limits: remove Reditu from «Sleeping apps» and add it to «Never sleeping apps». Also turn off «Put unused apps to sleep».Not tested on a phone: from public sources
- In recents, tap Reditu's icon and choose «Keep open».Not tested on a phone: from public sources

Huawei / Honor with EMUI
We could not test it on a Huawei: it comes from public sources about EMUI. On phones with HarmonyOS the menus change and we have no checked steps. On some EMUI 9 or later, a system component (PowerGenie) can close apps even if you do everything; it cannot be fixed from the settings.
- Settings › Battery › App launch: set Reditu to «Manage manually» and turn on every option. Not tested on a phone: from public sources
- Search Settings for «Battery optimisation» and make sure Reditu is not optimised. Not tested on a phone: from public sources
- Lock Reditu in recents so it does not close when you clear them. Not tested on a phone: from public sources

Oppo / Realme with ColorOS
We could not test it on an Oppo or a Realme. The public source describes a single old model (ColorOS 6) and the menus of recent versions change quite a lot: take it as a guide.
- In Reditu's app info, turn on «Allow auto start-up» (or turn it on in Security centre › Startup manager). Not tested on a phone: from public sources
- In Battery on Reditu's app info, choose «Run in background» (or «Allow background activity») and turn optimisation off.Not tested on a phone: from public sources

OnePlus with OxygenOS
We could not test it on a OnePlus: it comes from public sources. System updates can undo these settings, so it is worth checking them every now and then.
- Settings › Battery › Battery optimisation: switch to «All apps», pick Reditu and choose «Don't optimise».Not tested on a phone: from public sources
- In that same menu (three dots) › Advanced optimisation: turn off «Deep optimisation» (or «Adaptive battery»), which closes the most apps. Not tested on a phone: from public sources
- Lock Reditu in recents: press and hold its window and tap the padlock in the corner. It helps, but it is not completely reliable. Not tested on a phone: from public sources
