In short: Reditu shares your position only with your group and only while you are signed up to a ride in progress. We do not store your route and we delete your location as soon as the ride ends. We do not sell data and there is no advertising. You can delete your account and everything of yours whenever you like.

1 · Who processes your data

Carlos Blanco, the controller responsible for Reditu. For anything about your data: hola@reditu.diezcien.com.

2 · What data we process

  • Your account: your email and your password (stored encrypted) or, if you sign in with Google, the email and name that Google gives us.
  • Your profile: name, nickname, emoji and photo if you add one, and your phone number if you choose to give it.
  • Your location: GPS position, speed and heading, only while you are signed up to a ride in progress. While it lasts, only the latest position of each person is stored, not the route, and it is deleted when the ride ends.
  • If you ride in pocket mode: Reditu does not switch on its GPS. It uses the position the system has already calculated for another app you have open (for example, your sat nav) and sends it at most every 10 minutes. If there is no recent one, it only sends an “I’m still alive” with the time, without a location. Alongside your participation in that ride we store that you were in pocket mode and the time of your last “I’m still alive”, which is not a location. When you ask for help, say you are lost or set a meeting point, your position at that moment is taken.
  • What happens on the ride: who starts it, who signs up and leaves, requests for help and their reason, “I’m lost”, stops, meeting points, who is calling whom (without the number) and when each person gets home. When the ride ends, the place of each alert is deleted and only the type and time remain.
  • How much your phone uses on each ride: when you finish or leave it we store, linked to you and to that ride, the mobile data Reditu has used, the battery percentage of the phone at the start and at the end (of the whole phone, not just Reditu), the worst heat level reported by the system (a level, not degrees), how much processor time Reditu has used, how long the GPS was active and whether the phone was charging at any point. If there was a charger, we do not show the battery use, because it means nothing. These are approximate figures, they help us know how much it costs to use Reditu and they do not include location. Only you can see them: no other member of the group can see them, nor can you see theirs.
  • Your voice, if you turn on “Answer by voice”: it is off by default. If you turn it on, Reditu listens for a few seconds only after an alert that accepts a reply (someone asks for help, is lost or asks if you are OK) to understand “on my way”, “got it”, “I’ll wait” or “I’m fine”. It never listens in the background. We do not store or send the audio: recognition is done by Android, on the phone itself when it can, and we only receive the answer, as if you had tapped the button.
  • Your home: if you set it, it is stored only on your phone and never leaves it. The group only learns that you have arrived, not where you live.
  • Crash reports: when the app fails, phone model, Android version and where it failed. They do not include your location or your phone number.

3 · What for and on what legal basis

To provide the service you ask for: so that your group knows where you are during a ride and you can alert each other if someone falls behind or needs help, and so that you can see how much data and battery Reditu costs you. The basis is the performance of the service you request when you create the account. Location is also used with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by leaving the ride or removing the permission in Android. Crash reports and usage figures are based on our legitimate interest in the app working properly and not using more than it should.

4 · Who sees your data

The members of your groups see your profile and your phone number (if you have given it), your position while you are out on a ride and the ride’s alerts. If you ride in pocket mode, they also see that you are doing so and how long ago you were last heard from. What your phone uses on each ride (data, battery, heat, processor and GPS) is seen only by you. Outside a ride they do not see your position: it is deleted when the ride ends. Nobody else: we do not share, we do not sell and we do not use your data for advertising.

5 · Providers who help us

  • Supabase stores the database, the accounts and the photos, on servers in Frankfurt (European Union).
  • Vercel serves this website.
  • Google: sign-in with Google, if you use it, and Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports. If you use “Answer by voice” and your phone cannot recognise speech offline, Android’s speech recognition (by Google) processes those few seconds of audio; Reditu does not receive them.
  • OpenStreetMap public services: OSRM receives positions of the group and of the meeting point to calculate travel time by road; Nominatim receives a position to say which road someone asking for help is on; and the OpenStreetMap map servers receive the area of the map you are looking at. None of them receives your name.

When a provider processes data outside the European Union, it does so with the safeguards required by the GDPR (adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses).

6 · How long

Your location, until the ride ends; then it is deleted. Everything else, while you have the account. If you delete it, everything of yours is deleted at that moment: profile, photo, positions, alerts and rides you were signed up to. It may only remain in the provider’s backups, which are renewed within a maximum of 30 days.

7 · Android permissions and what they are for

  • Location, also in the background: to keep your group informed with the phone in your pocket or with the sat nav in front. Only during a ride, with a persistent notice in the notification bar.
  • Notifications: for that persistent notification and to warn you if something goes wrong.
  • Display over other apps: for the Reditu bubble on top of the sat nav.
  • Bluetooth: to speak through the intercom if one is connected.
  • Microphone: only if you turn on “Answer by voice”, to listen to your reply for a few seconds after an alert. It never listens in the background.
  • Calls: to call a fellow rider if you ask for help and there is no data connection to alert the group. It never calls unless you have asked for help.
  • Unrestricted battery: so that the system does not cut off the alert halfway through the route.

8 · Your rights

You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, have us stop processing it, restrict it or receive it in a file (you also have this last one in the app: Settings › You › Download my data). Write to hola@reditu.diezcien.com and we will reply within one month at most. To delete everything yourself, see Delete my account and my data. If you think we have not handled it properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

9 · Minors

Reditu is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.

10 · Changes

Reditu is in beta. If this policy changes, we will say so in the app and here, with the date at the top updated.
